Bio

I currently live in San Francisco, California. I moved here a few years ago from my native San Jose, Costa Rica. I graduated as a journalist and continued my studies in new media production. I completed a Masters on Information and Communication technology (with emphasis in multimedia production), and a Masters degree in Human Rights, with a project about digital storytelling for documentation and advocacy. I have worked with NGOs and International development since 2001, researching social appropriation of ICTs, alternative media, knowledge sharing tools and methodologies, open content and free/open source software. In 2005, me and my friends started Sulá Batsú, a workers cooperative in Costa Rica dedicated to social research of ICTs in Latin America.

I’ve been writing Itzpapalotl, a personal literary blog, for more than 10 years. I’ve also developed small, personal projects on web around photography, cooking and crafts.
